1/5/16 Assignment
What is driving my research? This is a question I ask myself everyday I attend my mentorship. I mentor at the Guilford Immediate Care Clinic, and what drives me to research medicine and health is my own family line’s of health problems and struggles. I have seen how diseases and diagnosis like diabetes and high blood pressure have impacted my family members’ lives and bodies. Although these types of problems have been around for a long time, I am hoping to help advance the research and discoveries of diseases that have affected my personal life and my family's. As for my essential question, it has, for the most part, remained the same. Late last year, I stated that my essential question was how must I develop and progress to be a Surgical Physician. Currently, I believe that my new essential question would be, “Apart from going to school, what combination of experience, connections, and personal advancement would allow me to be the best Surgical Physician possible. For my end-of-the-year project, I plan on completely answering that question. Apart from my website, I am hoping to provide a demonstration for the Final Project. I am also looking into conducting an experiment and revealing the results along with the demonstration. And for my inquiry, I want to dive into my research in order to validate it. I am planning on interviewing my mentor about some of their personal experiences and why they chose to be a doctor. Along with that, the experiment I conduct will help validate my work.
