3/14/16 Video Presentation Assignment

Before watching this video on public speaking and confidence, I believed I was fairly good at speaking in front of crowds due to my experience, but after the video, I learned I can certainly keep working on my presentations skills. With step one, "prepare prepare prepare", I noticed that I can work on my introduction hook and my conclusion. My PowerPoint is structured in a way that will easily allow me to separate the main points and explain them individually, but in introducing my topics, I can prepare clever and witty hooks in order to engage my audience. My conclusion also serves well as a way to sum up my main points, but I can definitely work on creating a more resonating conclusion. For step two, "posture and physicality", I believe I am well prepared. I naturally have a straight and professional posture, and I obviously know that dairy products are unsafe for the stomach during presentations. This also seemed easy to me due to experience in past presentations and not being so anxious. Step three, "pander to your audience", also seemed to come naturally to me. I have never been the most serious person unless the occasion calls for it, so in my presentations, I try my best to act natural and intriguing. I'll certainly prepare by thinking of jokes and knowing what I want to say so that I am not reading from the PowerPoint or from cards. This video reminding me of the essentials for presentations. Although I may be naturally quiet and introverted, I believe I am also naturally good at presentations. I'll make sure to come back to this video on later occasions and in my preparation for my relevant group presentation.
