After
reading the article, it is even more obvious that the youth needs to work
harder than ever to seem professional and serious in the work place. As a young
adult with first-hand experience, I know of multiple challenges that the youth
face. First of all, it is always vital to show your best side in interviews and
at work. It is important to have a clean, first impression by dressing professionally
and speaking about your best qualities and balances. The article said that
young adults can often come off as self-absorbed or too forward, and that is
why, in interviews and at work, one should act respectful and caring. In my job
interview, I tried my best to allow my employer to speak first and take the
lead, and that made me seem as a good follower and listener. And when given the
opportunity to speak, I did my best to seem as a hardworking, qualified worker,
and now, I have been employed for over 7 months!
Social
Intelligence is then the most important quality for a worker or an intern.
Personally, I would like to simply define social intelligence as the ability to
work well in all situations and with all sorts of people. In my mentorship and
at my job, I do my best by gaining experience and creating friendly and professional
relationships with all my coworkers and mentees. I want all the people in the facilities
to rely on me to finish the job adequately. And as I previously stated, social
intelligence is the most important quality because it is the clearest evidence
of adaptability. A worker and intern should be able to work in multiple
positions in case of need. A worker should also be able to adapt to all workers,
including new workers. In my opinion, adaptability, social influence, is the
most wanted and vital quality I would look for if I were an employer.
